I wanted to take a minute to encourage you as we enter the end January. The holiday season is over. It’s cold outside. It gets dark early. There is a long stretch of winter ahead.
If you’re anything like me, it can be easy to let this season just drag you down mentally and emotionally. Be intentional about finding ways to schedule joy in your day.
Maybe it’s as simple as putting on a warm soup in the crock pot for your family to enjoy together that evening. Or perhaps making an extra batch to deliver to your neighbors. I have learned the act of serving others is the best way to bring joy into my own life.
Maybe it’s taking a day off to rest and read a book by the fireplace. Or scheduling a date night with your loved one.
It could be going for a long walk and admiring God’s creation. Or taking a much needed nap.
Whatever it is, be intentional about taking the time to be joyful in the little things this season. Our culture glorifies the hustle mentality, but I promise that a heart and mind that a rested and joyful heart will be more productive in an hour than a burned out soul will in a day.
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
