How I Left My Corporate Career for Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship

For 17 years, I thrived in a corporate sales career I genuinely loved. I had the title, the salary, the security, and the identity that came with being a high-performing sales executive. But what most people don’t realize is that even in the midst of success, there can be a quiet whisper — a tug that something more is waiting.

For me, that whisper turned into a steady pull.

And that pull eventually became a leap of faith that transformed my life forever.

The Early Threads: Dance, Confidence, and Calling

My story didn’t start in a boardroom — it started in a dance studio.

Tap, ballet, jazz…those early stages taught me confidence, discipline, leadership, and the joy of helping others grow. I didn’t know it then, but those skills would lay the foundation for a long and successful corporate sales career.

And later, they would become the heartbeat of the business I run today.

A Corporate Career I Loved — But a Purpose I Couldn’t Ignore

I wasn’t running away from corporate.

I was running toward purpose.

After nearly two decades in sales and leadership, the tug became undeniable:

I was called to something different — something countercultural, meaningful, and rooted in service.

Candles, Creativity, and an Unexpected Spark

Like many women, the pandemic awakened dormant passions in me. I started making candles simply for stress relief, and within three months found myself in over 120 boutiques. It was fast, wild, and overwhelming — but it reminded me that I was capable of building something of my own.

It also planted the seed that maybe, just maybe, I could take a leap of faith into full-time entrepreneurship.

The Date That Changed Everything

In January 2023, sitting on a cold beach, I wrote a date in my journal: September 29th.

My goal? Leave corporate well. Leave with integrity. Leave with purpose.

Then came the phone call:

My role was being eliminated, and I was given six months to find another position.

That date?

It was March 29th — exactly six months from September 29th.

A divine alignment that I could not have orchestrated on my own.

Fear, Faith, and Finally Walking Through the Open Door

The months that followed weren’t perfect. I had doubts. I considered other positions. I wrestled with fear.

But ultimately, I chose faith.

On September 29th, I walked out of my corporate office for the last time — and into the life, business, and calling God had been preparing me for all along.

The Leap of Faith Is Never Just One Moment

It’s a series of prepared steps.

A collection of experiences.

A journey of trust, obedience, and courage.

If you’re standing at the edge of your own leap of faith, know this:

God is already in the details.

He’s preparing you now for where He’s leading you next.

And it is never too late to step into the next chapter of your calling.
